Wilson introduces the use of Basalt fiber (BLX) technology for improved feel and frame feedback, continuing to feature classic feel in the same tradition as the previous-generation Pro Staffs: nSixOne Tour 90, Hyper Pro Staff Tour 90 and Pro Staff Kevlar 85. 17mm flat beam and 90 square inch headsize provide the ultimate in feel and control for those players advanced enough to wield Federer's racquet of choice. Specifications are nearly identical with the past generation K Six One Tour 90. BLX builds upon the very popular K Factor design, offering a refinement of Wilson frame technology that provides the ultimate in feel and performance. What is BLX? Basalt is a natural volcanic rock used in manufacturing and made into fine and ultra fine gold fibers. Basalt fibers are enviornmentally friendly and superior to other fibers in terms of thermal stability, sound insluation, vibration assistance and durability. Players will find the ultimate in frequency reduction while retaining the performance of carbon fiber in terms of lightness, responsiveness, stability and rigidity. Basalt added into racquets filters out unwanted frequencies (i.e vibrations) that reach the hand to deliver a clean feedback and sensation for the perfect feel players demand. Very good racketJun 21, 2011
By Phat T. Phan I feel that the blx is the best iteration so far compare to all of its predecessors. I hit better with it when I compare it to its older brother the k factor tour 90. Somehow, the k factor felt a little heavier in my hands than the blx. I especially liked the more cushioned feel from the blx as compared to the k factor. I read a lot of reviews and bought the k factor b/c tennis warehouse gave the k factor an over all score of 85 as compared to the blx 84 points b/c the k had more feel. Personally, I would flip the point by giving the blx 85 and the k 84 instead. I originally thought that my k was a bit heavier resulting from the 4 1/5 grip size since by blx had 4 3/8. I tried sanding down my k grip and re-leather with no weight effect. The weight is really thorough the racket and head as the grip outer shell is mostly hardened foam any way. Any way, I plan on buying another blx with a 4 1/4 grip to rotate among the three rackets (2 blx, 1 k). Hit wise, it is as memorable as the original prostaff 6.0 85. By the way, warehouse rated the 6.0 85 at 80 points and the ncode 95 at 74 which I felt were spot on. The blx is a demanding one as it is only 90 size. If you have good swing and hit the small sweet spot, it is quite an experience to feel and remember. You might never go back to another racket again as i have experienced. The weight will tire most out by the 3 or fourth set. However, I swing with both hands for fh and bh so I feel the weight a little less. However, I have to make a little more effort with two hand to practice free swing to take advantage of the racket and let it do most of the work with physics, momentum and gravity. In a nutshell, demo this racket and see if you like it and if you are like me, scoff em up before they are out of stock like its predecessors the 85, ncode, f factor. See you out at the court...

By luicwadrian Great racket, great feel, great look. It was delivered promptly and quickly. Definitely somewhere to order from again.
Actually improved my gameJan 27, 2012
By Jeff Walker I've never given much thought to racquet weight, but I found out it makes a huge difference with this new heavier racquet. I'm hitting the ball easier and with more punch than ever before. If you've always used a light racquet, you might want to give this one a try.
Love these racquets!Dec 17, 2011
By tennisintx 4.0 tennis player with full swings. Been using Volkl for the past 5 years. These puppies cut thru the air like a hot knife thru butter. That allows you to really control the ball and the extra weight provides the power for penetrating deep strokes. I hear that they're coming out with a 95 version of this racquet soon. That might be my next step to a 4.5 level!
More maneuverability, but less feelFeb 23, 2011
By Riccardo Audano This last evolution of the Wilson six one 90 is still one of the best, if not the best, control racquet around.. Like every other member of its "lineage" is not very forgiving, but when you hit the ball well it's a real pleasure to play with, offering you lots of accuracy and precision. The BLX feels and a bit more maneuverable and head light then its k-factor "parent" and so it's even more approachable for the amateur player, but the "basalt based" material gives it a slight kind of "numbness" that "touch and feel" players are not going to like. Overall the difference in minimal anyways, so if you have k-factors in good conditions I would not see much of a reason to buy the new model. Definitely a racquet to try if you like control oriented play and are not so dumb as to go for the lighter racquets which might tire your arm less but due to their little mass are much more likely to generate arm injuries like tennis elbow.
