Very accurate and easy to use! Quality is awesomeOct 09, 2010
By Covey I've strung racquet for years at a club using friends machines and only till now did i decide to purchase my own. I did some research and heard a lot of good reviews about this machine. I had my reservations as i used machines that were several thousands of dollars. This machine is great! While it does not have all the bells and whistles it gets the job done great and accurately. I string racquets in the same time as i would with an electric machine. I figured before i bite the bullet and pay over a thousand dollars let me try this. I'm not buy the thousand dollar machine. This machine is the best i've used. You also feel confident that you are always putting the correct tension in as sometime in electric you don't really know, but with a counter weight you know that exactly what is being pulled. My customers are happy and i'm happy and i know if you purchase this you will to. For the begginners it will take you a couple of racquets and you will be stringing them in 30 mins flat.

If I Can Do It, You Can Do ItApr 20, 2011
By Michael Burnstein I am an avid tennis player but had never strung a racquet before. I assumed stringing a tennis racquet was very complicated and easy to screw up. I was at a tournament with a buddy and he mentioned he strings his own racquets. I asked if it's tough and he said no -- very easy. He let me know I would probably make a minor mistake on my first one and that the first one would take forever, but that after a couple racquets I'd be doing great. He let me know the Klippermate is $150. I did the math. My pro charges $35 per racquet. I can buy strings for $10. The machine will pay for itself quickly. Not to mention I get new strings whenever I want.
The first racquet took forever and I made a minor mistake (went over strings twice in a row instead of over then under). I used very cheap string knowing I would probably cut them out and string again (which I did). The instruction booklet is amazing. Step by step -- anyone can follow it. Tying the knots -- easy. It all takes a little practice. But my second string job was perfect, and by the fifth string job I was down to about 45 minutes.
As you can tell, I'm a huge fan. If you play a lot of tennis and say you own 2 or 3 racquets, this is a no-brainer. Save money, play on new strings more often, and never get stuck waiting for your pro to finish your racquet.

High Quality Stringing MachineMar 30, 2011
By Mike T Just because the Klippermate is in the lower price range of stringing machines does NOT make it low quality. Rather, it is built extremely well - Made in the USA - with an unlimited lifetime guarantee that covers the machine and tools! Everything is of exceptional quality, from the packaging to the product to the customer service.
The included 3 free sets of strings were a plus, but more importantly I have to recommend the Klippermate based on the supplementary materials. The instructions manual is detailed with pictures at each step to guide you in stringing your racquet. Others proclaim it as one of the best in the industry. I had little trouble with my first racquet. My recommendation: string your first racquet during KlipperUSA customer service's open hours. You can call them for help, and they're glad to do so.
After playing tennis for almost 1 year and having to get my racquets restrung 5 times, the money spent started building up fast. I decided to purchase the Klippermate to string mainly for myself and family, and it's one of the best investments I've ever made. I'm saving so much money by stringing myself and bypassing the labor charges and increased string prices at pro shops. That is one of the major incentives of stringing yourself.
If you're hesitant because you worry that stringing seems complicated, well it's not. It's just really time-consuming at first because you have to familiarize yourself with so many things. Once you get used to it, it goes by pretty quickly. I've strung three racquets with the Klippermate so far. My first time took 4 hours, then 3, then 2. My goal is to string in under 1 hour, because there are other Klippermate users who can do it in 40 minutes.
I fully recommend the Klippermate if you're a beginning stringer. The only reservation I have is if you plan to string for a high volume of racquets per day. You can maximize your time by investing in other models. But if you're a home stringer like me, the Klippermate does the job well. Tensions are accurate.
[UPDATE 8/30/2011] By the 7th racquet I strung, I got down to 1 hour. My fastest time is 42 minutes, which was on my 18th racquet. Speed is about focus and concentration, being confident in your ability to string, and getting into the groove.
Another concern for some is the competing Gamma X-2 / Progression 200. In short:
1. Gamma has a convenient ratcheting mechanism for when you feed too much string into the tension head. The Klippermate doesn't. However, once you're an experienced stringer and know how much certain strings stretch, the ratchet is really unnecessary because you'll feed the right amount anyways. It's more of a convenience for when you first start, or if you never get to that experience level due to lack of stringing frequency.
2. The Klippermate has superior clamps. Period. Gamma owners' biggest complaints are for being bulky, and sometimes cutting into their hands. But really, it's something Gamma users get used to.
3. This isn't much of an issue anymore: Gamma's X-2/Progression 200 previously only had a 5 year limited warranty. Now they've upgraded it to a limited lifetime warranty. Klippermate is still an UNLIMITED lifetime warranty.
Me? I went with the Klippermate. Happy. There are also happy Gamma owners. The main reason for being unhappy is wanting to upgrade to a higher-end machine with features like fixed clamps.

Klippermate is GreatFeb 25, 2011
By Tom I have been playing tennis for a lifetime, but I am new to stringing my own rackets. The Klippermate is a great entry level stringing machine for first time stringers for a couple of reasons:
1 It does not cost an arm and a leg to purchase. It is very reasonably priced, so for anyone who wants to get into stringing it is the best option.
2 The instructions shipped with the product is flawless and easy to follow. The pictures are great and the detailed explanation leaves nothing to chance.
3 If by chance you do have a problem or just need advice on strings or stringing, the Klippermate support is top notch.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to start stringing tennis rackets. It will pay for itself in short order given the cost to string a racket today can be any where from $25.00 to as much as $50.00 per stringing.

Superb machine - built like a tank - it'll work forever for youSep 22, 2010
By Siwash The Klippermate is an excellent drop-weight machine. It's stripped-down, functional look may not be too sexy, but this is because it's built like a tank: it's SUPPOSED to be functional.
It's an excellent machine, an excellent buy, I would not hesitate to buy mine again. Five stars and two thumbs up!
Oh, you get the whole "don't got a ratchet" argument, but I think that just doesn't really register. It's competitor has cheap plastic floating clamps that are extremely hard to open and close, and less exacting in their ability to hold the string. . . while the Kmate's clamps are superb steelies. You lose far more time messing with the awkward plastic clamps than you'd ever gain from the ratchet. . . which itself may wear out or break. And honestly, if time is such a pressing concern, the need to save 10 or 15 minutes each string job, best to buy a more expensive machine. Or have someone else string your frame.
Klippermate Technology appears to follow the old school idea of "build it well and it'll last forever." Klippermate machines last and last, and get passed down to the next generation. Serious tennis players know this.
If you're a personal stringer, I don't think you can find a better solution for racquet stringing at this price point. But if money's no object, or if you're stringing for many people, savea up a couple hundred more and buy a better machine.
